Azithromycin(Zithromax)

Therapeutical Class：Azalides, inhibit protein synthesis by binding to 50S ribosomal subunits

Indication：G(+), esp. staph and diphtheria; M. pneumoniae; Bacteroids; Leginoella pneumophila; Mycobacterium fortuitum; Chlamydia trachomatis; Campylobacter jejuni; B. pertussis.

Administraton：PO.

Uncomplicated chlamydial infection: single 1 g dose.

Gonococcal infection: single 2 g dose.

Other infections: 500 mg qd for 3 days; or 500 mg on day 1, then 250 mg qd for 4 days.

Children: ≧2 yrs: 12 mg/kg/day (max: 500 mg/day) once daily for 5 days. ≧6 mon: 10 mg/kg (max: 500 mg/day) on day 1, 5 mg/kg/day once daily on days 2-5.

Adverse Effect：Diarrhea (>10%), nausea (>10%), abdominal pain (1-10%), cramping, anorexia (1-10%), vomiting, allergy (rash,etc.) (1-10%), reversible elevation in liver transaminases.

Contraindication：Concurrent use of dronedarone.
