Therapeutical Class:1st generation cephalosporins, inhibit cell wall synthesis by inhibiting the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis

Indication:G(+): not Enterococci and MRSA; G(-) bacilli: E.coli, H. influenzae, Klebsiella, Proteus.

Administraton:IM or IV.

Adults: 250 mg-2 g q6-12h, max 12 g/day.

Mild infection with G(+) cocci: 250-500 mg q8h.

Mild-to-moderate infection: 0.5-1 g q6-8h.

Severe infection: 1-2 g q6h.

Surgical prophylaxis: 1 g 30-60 min prior to surgery and 0.5-1 g q6-8h up to 24 hrs after surgery.

Renal impairment: Ccr 35-54 ml/min, full dose q6-8h;

Ccr 11-34 ml/min, 1/2 dose q12h;

Ccr <10 ml/min; 1/2 dose q18-24h.

Hemodialysis: administer dose postdialysis or supplemental dose of 0.5-1 g after dialysis.

Adverse Effect:Allergy (rash, etc.), diarrhea, delirium, seizure, coma, nausea, vomiting, elevated transaminases, phlebitis.
